Spring has sprung, the grass is green and I’m not freezing anymore. So what better to do for a break in the day than to work on my putting, I desperately need to sharpen my disc golf skills. I remember saying that I was going to play all winter or at least put every day, at least twenty-five on cold days and one hundred on warmer days. Well, I don’t need to tell you that I fell short of that goal. Actually I believe I was in hibernation to be exact. With the exception of a few days in January that were nice I only looked at my disc longingly. Ugh. I guess fifteen inches of snow will slow down my plans.
So the best thing for me to do is put the past right there in the past and move forward. I grabbed a few putters while the sun was still out to see what I could do and I was fortunate enough to have my nephew over with his camera to catch some action shots. Thanks Andy for being my paparazzi, I felt special having my very own photographer. I was actually amazed how well I threw. I paced off to about twenty-one feet and let them fly, with five disc each round I was getting four out of five in the catcher. I was unconscious. Not really but I was doing far better than I would have believed.
Getting out for a small break was a great stress relief. I have always enjoyed just getting out and trying to improve my game, a simple competition with myself. I also played a real round of eighteen holes the other day on my favorite course around here and I recorded three of my best drives on three different holes. Exciting I know. I almost eagled one hole because I was so much closer, that would have been two throws on a par four, but it metaled off. Of course no one was around to witness some spectacular play on my part. Hopefully as the weather stays nice and time allows I will be out on the courses enjoying some time practicing or playing with others. I am still looking for that ace. I’ll keep you posted.
