Last night I had some pretty crazy dreams, not that this is unusual or I am alone in that regard; dreams are by their very nature strange. As my dreams go they were a mix of different elements that if I told them to others they would obviously look at me funny. But they would be living in glass houses and throwing stones, likely they are experiencing something similar but don’t want to share. Even as I type this the images are fading from my ability to recall them, thus my struggle with relaying what they were. I do remember that there were friends from my past that I have not seen in some time; maybe it’s my wish to see some people at I have cherished memories of and I would love to sit and share some time with again.
While we seldom remember them and when we do they are mostly fragments of ephemeral images mashed together. It is the worst game of telephone imaginable when we try to process the little information we get and try to make sense of it with the logical side of our brain; fail. This brings me to something I am sure I am not the first to envision…what if we could have our dreams recorded like the DVR in our homes? I have not read any of the new research on the study of dreams and I am sure there is remarkable progress in some aspects of this idea or at least the understanding or mapping of our dreams in the brain. The idea is thrilling and frightening. Would we want to truly see what craziness going on in that most mysterious of our body parts, the brain? We might need therapy after or we may gain some greater understanding of what we truly want or need. Would it serve as a guide to what direction to go in our lives? The questions are endless like how would we prevent them from being hacked. A sobering thought.
If I would want anything for my dreams I would want more of them, crazy, scary and just off the charts whatever. That is very fertile ground to help me create something I enjoy for myself first and foremost and maybe a few others can also find amusing. Some people I talk to do not like some of the nightmares they have obviously because they are scary but I love that. I just laugh and tell them it was just a dream, reality is far scarier that a dream. So relish them, take control of them when you can because only in dreams can we be the things that in life we find it so hard to be.
